firestorm
High winds caused embers from the wildfires already burning in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park to blow across the mountain tops into the valleys below. Falling trees pulled down power lines sparking electric transformers as new fires were ignited in multiple locations throughout the community. The fires quickly engulfed many areas including Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, Wears Valley, Cobbly Nob, and Chalet Village in the WIley Oakley area.
